Description
Lower Frequency Limit vs Horn Size: To maintain usable gain & good beam at ~0.4 GHz, the aperture (mouth of the horn) must be large. Reducing size compromises gain at low end, increases beamwidth, increases side‑lobes. Weight: Fully rigid aluminum structures weigh several kilograms; lighter versions might use thinner materials or partial structure, which may less durable or less precise. Gain Uniformity & VSWR: Shorter designs often have worse performance near the lowest frequency (reflections / mismatch), so VSWR & gain will degrade there. Polarization / Isolation: Maintaining good cross‑pol isolation and port separation in dual polarization becomes harder in a compact horn.
