Description
Aperture Size vs Gain: To get decent gain at 1 GHz, the aperture needs to be large. A more compact aperture (shorter horn) will have lower gain at the low end, broader beamwidth, and more spillover / side lobes. Height / Depth of Horn: The “length” (depth) of the horn and size of mouth affect performance at lower frequencies. Shorter depth means performance starts degrading earlier near 1 GHz. Dual Polarization Type: Linear dual polarization (two orthogonal linear ports) is simpler; circular or dual‑polarized via Orthomode Transducer (OMT) adds complexity and size. Connector / Flange: N, SMA, or coax plus flange or OMT transitions. These interfaces should be good quality to maintain isolation and low loss.
